.. has brought some cheerful news, for once, in the form of the evening Prophet. It appears that reports of Mr Crouch Jr's death were inaccurate, though at the moment, the details of why that is are rather slim.

If students would like to take a look at the article, I'm in my office at the moment, and would be glad to have you stop by until curfew.

Oh really, Professor Sinistra? Oh, thank you so much for passing that along. I've been wondering all day if the rumours were true, so much so that I spilled ink all over my bookbag.

I can probably borrow a copy of the paper from someone in my House, but thank you again!

Thank Merlin the Prophet is out. Now I can finally tell you that yes:

Barty's alive. He walked into Spence last night and I almost killed him a second time, thinking he was some mad inferius! (Though he didn't look that bad.) The body we all reckoned was his is most likely his Mum's (keep that to yourself), polyjuiced up to look like him. Haven't got a bloody clue what she was doing, walking around with Barty's face, but that's not my job to figure out.

I'm staying tonight, just in case I'm called needed by family. But I'll be back at the castle for breakfast.

Good to hear from you. I figured as soon as I saw the paper come in that you'd likely not be back tonight. (Which is why I am not in my rooms with your drink.)

But what wonderful news, except for giving you that kind of start (which must have been quite disturbing, until you figured it all out.) And for that to be his mother, you think (and of course I won't tell.)

Do let me know if you need anything. And don't be afraid of waking me up, if you want company when you get in, and don't want to face breakfast in the Hall. I can nap later.

It's possible I've got first grey hair. But at least I didn't lose any.

There's still the matter of someone having tried to kill him, and possibly trying again. He was damned insulted that we'd thought he'd go as easily as that, though. It's a mistake I'll not make again, certainly.

Well, seeing as I haven't announced that I'm going to be at breakfast (to anyone but you), then I reckon there's no need to actually show up, is there?

If you're only getting your first now, you're luckier than a lot of people. (They don't show well on blondes, fortunately.)

I do see the worrisome implications. (And given his reputation, well, I can see why he'd be insulted at the assumption it'd be easy to get him.)

As to breakfast, well, then, I'll make sure I'm up. And I'll have a word with the elves tonight about a tray.
