Thank you, everyone who turned in such thoughtful applications: I know it will be a very difficult process to make our final choices, and a great deal will depend on the final interview.
These will be scheduled for forty-five minute slots next Tuesday (between 3pm and 9pm), Wednesday (between 2pm and 9pm) and Friday (between 2pm and 9pm). Kindly check your calendars (some of you have classes in the 2pm or 3pm slots, for example) and sign up as promptly as possible.
We'll be meeting on Saturday to determine our final choices (and it is possible we may have a few last minute questions to help us in that: I know it's a Hogsmeade weekend, but please keep an eye on your journals for a note from me.)
Interviews will be in my office, with Campanella Wright (from Magical Law Enforcement), and Helena Provim (from the Wizarding Examination Authority) as the other representatives of the committee. Questions will include clarification of your applications, additional discussion about your interests and long-term plans, and various other topics. We don't ask everyone the same questions, but you are expected not to share the details of your interview with others until the entire process is complete.
Feel free to ask any additional questions below about the process. Good luck to you all!
Other students:
Obviously, much of my time (and a number of my office hours) next week will be affected by these interviews. NEWT exam students, I'm quite confident you're in excellent shape, but I'll be available the next two Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons and evening. OWL students, I'll be available the same times (though the NEWT exams do take priority). In both cases, I'm expecting to have your final pre-exam charts and other notes ready for you to pick up on Monday.

Re: Private Message to Aurora Sinistra
Date: 2012-05-04 01:49 pm (UTC)I rather thought it might be something like that on Harry's account, but it is such a delicate consideration that I wanted to be certain I wasn't missing something. And of course, I quite agree about priorities for Draco's time (though I have tried to keep the term-time YPL commitments to a minimum.)
I shouldn't take more of your time, but do deeply appreciate your thoughts and your confidence in the committee's decisions.
Aurora
