YPL
A reminder that our final YPL event of the year will begin at 1pm Saturday in the Great Hall, though if the weather cooperates, we’ll move outside for the second half. We’ll be welcoming various speakers on International Wizarding Relations for a panel discussion, then hearing several people speak to wizarding cooperation and sport.
CCF trials announcements:
We’re delighted to be able to announce that the lists of those 3rd years selected to participate in the CCF trials are posted in the common rooms. For the students selected, please see me during office hours for more information. Letters are being sent home to your parents about your travel arrangements.
As always, we want to reassure everyone that this is but one way to serve the Protectorate, and that we’ve provided some alternate guidance and ideas privately to everyone not selected to continue.
YPL 6th or 7th year counsellors:
We’d like to have four of you stay during the trial week (ideally one from each house) to assist with some pieces of the trials and also to supervise students in the evenings. Please let me know if you’re interested as soon as possible.

Date: 2012-05-23 03:26 pm (UTC)Felix: Would you send the following out on my behalf to the full committee, via owl? And then copy and include the map sketches 2c, 2d, 2g, and 2k.
[begin note]
We’ve had several followup conversations about pieces of the CCF planning, particularly the solo activity for the rising 5th years. Proposals currently under consideration:
1) moving the day from the beginning of week 2 to the beginning of week 3 to allow greater time for skill acquisition.
2) moving the location to a space easier to oversee, particularly given the security considerations around Harry Marvolo. (Which would mean planning for Bedford Purlieus or the Peak District park, instead of centering on Hambleton, and additional consideration for endangered magical creatures in those other two sites.)
3) adjusting the location of individual students at Hambleton - please see the attached sketches for alternates. (2c is the one currently chosen.)
I’d appreciate your comments (to me and to Campanella) no later than the end of next week. Kindly include any thoughts on all three, or just let me know you have no problems with either the current or proposed. We’ll make a final decision no later than the June 25th meeting. [end note with the usual stuff]
Campanella: thanks for yesterday. I did just see the invite for supper Saturday, and I’m glad I’ve got other plans, really. That crowd does not enthuse. I’ll look forward to seeing you at noon, though.

Date: 2012-05-23 03:46 pm (UTC)Just realised I should drop a note. I’m fully aware of the approach of the anniversary of poor Hannah’s death, but Saturday is Raz’s birthday, and we’ve plans to be away overnight. Leaving after the YPL event on Saturday, back by early afternoon Sunday. (I do plan to poke my head into the common room before supper, as usual and be around that evening.)
If anything is truly dire, we won’t be far, but frankly, both Raz and I could use a break from the castle, however brief, and I’m hoping we can ignore the rest of the world for a bit. (And how pathetic is it that 18 hours is the outside we can manage?)

Date: 2012-05-23 04:10 pm (UTC)As to the summer, still no real idea, though I’m guessing I’ll be in New London most of the time when I’m not at YPL events. More when I know it myself, but I would like to come
homestay and see everyone for a day or two. On the rest, well, this week and last have been challenging for several reasons. I’d be doing more research if the weather cooperated, but other than that, it’s been tremendously better than March or April were. (Scarcely takes much, mind.)The flood of notes from the aunts and cousins has finally died down, though the more you can do to convince them to lay off advice on how to get Raz to propose, the happier I’ll be. (I’m ignoring all of it, taking things as they come, and enjoying the time we do have together. Pushing is so clearly not the right thing.) I have been writing to cousin Mel a bit more, and that’s been very pleasant.
(And how is Diane doing with her latest? Andie’s excited to get back and be helpful.)
Must run, more sometime soon.
